Auckland currently has a rising population of young people who are not involved in education, employment or training. It is vital that we address this issue for the future of Auckland’s young people and for the social and economic development of the Auckland region.

The Youth Empowerment Manager is responsible for managing two key, predominantly externally funded, programmes: Youth Connections and Community Action Youth and Drugs (CAYAD). Youth Connections is employment-focused, and CAYAD’s focus is minimising harm to young people caused by drugs and alcohol. This role is accountable for the delivery of these projects, including meeting and reporting on agreed outcomes to external funders, and will apply the Empowered Communities Approach to their delivery where applicable.

The role will also hold responsibility for developing the unit’s youth strategy and ensuring the alignment of all work across the unit focused on young people.

As our ideal candidate you respect, value and listen to young people and their communities.Your considerable experience within community development, recruitment, business development and or relationship management is needed. You will have a tertiary qualification in business management, social service or NGO management. We are seeking someone who is adaptable to change and comfortable working in an evolving environment. Your leadership experience is key to the success of this role; you will need to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in leading a team.
